Whisked Away: Love On The Pod Goes On Location With Hallmark And Netflix

Summer is here, and we're dreaming of wedding bells... especially the destination kind!  Picture this: saying "I do" on a tropical beach or in a charming European village. Sounds like a movie, right? Well, on Episode 13 of Love on the Pod, we're diving into SIX wedding-themed TV movies that will whisk you away to dreamy locales. We're talking white sand, luxury resorts, and maybe even a little drama. Tune in to hear our picks as we go on location with Hallmark and Netflix, and tell us which movie has you ready to pack your bags!

Netflix and Hallmark know how to set the mood with their dreamy backdrops, don't they? We've been swooning over their filming locations so much lately, that we thought it was time to share the travel bug!  We're talking about those cobblestone streets in Paris that make us crave croissants, the sparkling Greek islands that scream "honeymoon," and those Hawaiian beaches that look straight out of a postcard.

Since we can't actually hop on a plane to all of these amazing places, we're taking a virtual tour on the blog this week. We're sharing our top picks for TV movie locations we'd love to visit someday – who knows, maybe you'll add a few to your bucket list too!

Paris, France

On Hallmark’s "Savoring Paris," we visited the City of Lights (and Love), and ooh la la, is it ever beautiful! Paris is a dream destination for anyone who loves charming streets, decadent pastries, and, of course, wine. First-timers, get ready to fall head over heels!

Start with the iconic landmarks: the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and Notre Dame. Then, lose yourself in the city's enchanting neighborhoods. Wander the winding streets of the Latin Quarter, soak up the sun in the Luxembourg Gardens, and grab a table at a charming sidewalk bistro for some prime people-watching (and a glass of wine, naturally).

Speaking of wine, don't even get me started on the food! You'll want to try everything from flaky croissants and colorful macarons to hearty steak frites. But if you really want to experience Parisian cuisine, make sure to sample some cheese. Brie, Camembert, and Roquefort are all must-tries, but of course, you absolutely must try Comté – after all, it's what sent leading lady, Ella all the way to Europe! It's nutty, slightly sweet, and melts in your mouth. Just thinking about it makes me want to hop on a plane!

Sofia, Bulgaria

Hold onto your passports, folks, because "Savoring Paris" might also inspire a trip to... Bulgaria?! Yep, Sofia, Bulgaria is where some of the movie magic was filmed.

This vibrant city is a fascinating mix of old and new, where ancient Roman ruins meet trendy cafes. Explore the massive Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the ancient Roman ruins of Serdica. Then, take a break in Vitosha Park or do a little shopping on Vitosha Boulevard.

Hungry? Sofia's food scene won't disappoint. Try banitsa (a flaky cheese pastry) and shopska salad, a Bulgarian side dish with roasted red peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Remember to sample some Bulgarian wine! Trust me, Sofia is a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered.

Santorini, Greece

Get ready to be swept away, because Hallmark's "Love's Greek to Me" takes us to the breathtaking island of Santorini!  If you've ever dreamed of whitewashed buildings perched on cliffs overlooking the Aegean Sea, this is your cue to book that flight.

Prepare to be captivated by Santorini's iconic blue-domed churches, charming villages, and stunning sunsets. Start by exploring Oia, the postcard-perfect town where the movie was filmed. Get lost in its maze-like streets, hike down to Amoudi Bay for a seafood feast, and watch the sun dip below the horizon from a rooftop terrace – it's pure magic.

But Santorini is more than just Oia. Take a boat trip to the volcanic caldera, hike to the top of Profitis Ilias (the island's highest point), or relax on one of the unique black sand beaches. And don't forget to indulge in the local cuisine! Fresh seafood, juicy tomatoes, and creamy feta cheese are just a few of the delicious flavors that await.

Whether you're sipping local wine on a balcony overlooking the caldera or exploring ancient ruins, Santorini is a destination that will leave you utterly enchanted. So what are you waiting for? Say "Yamas!" (cheers!) to your next adventure and let Santorini steal your heart.

Oahu, Hawaii

Aloha, dreamers! If "Two Tickets to Paradise" has you yearning for a tropical escape, why not make it a reality? Pack your bags and head to the stunning island of Oahu, where this Hallmark movie came to life.

For the ultimate island adventure, start by checking into the iconic Royal Hawaiian Hotel, the "Pink Palace of the Pacific" where scenes from the movie were filmed. With its stunning beachfront location and classic Hawaiian charm, it's the perfect place to soak up the sun and feel like a movie star.

Venture out to explore the island's diverse landscapes, from the lush rainforests of the North Shore to the vibrant city of Honolulu. Hike to the top of Diamond Head for panoramic views, learn to surf at Waikiki Beach, or snorkel among colorful fish in Hanauma Bay.

When it's time to refuel, Oahu's culinary scene will tantalize your taste buds. Feast on fresh poke bowls, savory kalua pork, and sweet shaved ice. And don't forget to try a mai tai served in a real coconut shell while you watch the sunset – it's the perfect way to end a day in paradise.

So what are you waiting for? Trade your everyday routine for a Hawaiian getaway and experience the beauty and wonder of Oahu for yourself. It's a destination that will leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to say "aloha" to a whole new adventure.

Phuket, Thailand

Finally, if the Netflix film, "Mother of the Bride" has you dreaming of a destination wedding (or honeymoon!), why not set your sights on the stunning island of Phuket, Thailand? This tropical paradise is where the movie's hilarious wedding chaos unfolded, and it's easy to see why they chose this stunning location.

Phuket is a feast for the eyes, with its turquoise waters, lush rainforests, and dramatic limestone cliffs. Start your adventure at the luxurious Anantara Layan Phuket Resort or Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, where the movie was filmed. These stunning properties offer the ultimate in relaxation and pampering, with private pools, world-class spas, and breathtaking views.

Explore the bustling streets of Phuket Town, with its colorful Sino-Portuguese architecture and delicious street food. Take a boat trip to the iconic Phi Phi Islands, go diving in the crystal-clear waters, or visit a local elephant sanctuary. And don't forget to indulge in Thai cuisine! From spicy curries to fresh seafood, there's something for every palate.

Whether you're sipping cocktails on a private beach or exploring ancient temples, Phuket is a destination that will leave you feeling refreshed, inspired, and utterly in love with Thailand. So go ahead and book that trip – you deserve a little movie-inspired magic in your life!
